The West Highland Way is a Scotland's Premier Long Distance Route it is a linear long distance footpath in Scotland, with the official status of Long Distance Route. It is km ( mi) long, running from Milngavie north of Glasgow to Fort William in the Scottish Highlands, with an element of hill walking in the route. About 85,000 people use the path every year, of whom over 30,000 walk the entire route. A Munro is a Scottish Mountain above 3000ft () of which they are 284 and take there name from Sir Hugh Munro who classified & published The Munro Tables in 1871.
