Wilno (Vilnius)

The city promoted on this Polish Railways poster, Vilnius (Wilno), is now the capital of Lithuania, but was occupied by Poland at various times in the early 20th century. Stefan Norblin (1892-1952) studied in Antwerp and Dresden, perfecting his Art Deco style, and during the interwar years worked extensively in his native Warsaw as a painter, portraitist, interior designer and illustrator. He was commissioned by the Polish State Railways to create a series of posters promoting tourism, including the one presented here featuring the city of Vilnius.
