PHILIPPINE SEA (Nov. 1, 2016) Rear Adm. Charles Williams, commander, Task Force 70, greets Capt. Hirofumi Iizuka, commander, Sub Area Activity, Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force, as he arrives aboard the Navy’s only forward-deployed aircraft carrier, USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76), during a visit to the ship as part of Exercise Keen Sword 2017. KS17 is a joint, bilateral field-training exercise involving military and Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force personnel designed to increase combat readiness and interoperability of the alliance.
