BADGE: GENERAL RECONNAISSANCE SQUADRON - The badge of General Reconnaissance Squadron, designed from the arms of the town of Ontranto in Italy, the birthplace of the Squadron during the last war. Mussolini signed the copy of the budge when it was shown to him in 1938. No doubt he liked the motto "Faithful to a Friend". According to Otranto legend the faithful serpent fed a princess imprisoned in the tower until her release. Photographic negative , Royal Air Force
