Janusz Korczak (pen name of Henryk Goldszmit) cenotaph on historic Jewish cemetery at Okopowa Street in Warsaw, Poland


Janusz Korczak was a polish-jewish children's author, pediatrician and pedagogue. He was killed in a gas chamber in Treblinka in 1942 with almost 200 kids from orphanage, where he worked. He had a chance to survive but he decide to not abandon his children. Jewish Cemetery, where we can see Korczak's cenotaph in Warsaw is one of the largest Jewish cemeteries in Europe. It is located at Okopowa Street. There are over 200,000 marked graves and mass tombs of Warsaw Ghetto victims.
