Tal Abyad, October 2019. Members of the Syrian National Army take control of towns on the west of the Syrian city of Tal Abyad during the Turkish military offensive against the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the People Protection Unit (YPG) in northern Syria, on the east of the Euphrates. The ongoing Operation Peace Spring was launched by Turkey on 9 th October with the stated purpose to push the YPG from the Turkish border and to create a safe zone in northern Syria for the return of Syrian refugees, and has been joined by the Syrian National Army opposition forces
