In the early spring, when the sun is shining on the red wood ants' ( Formica polyctena) nest, you can see many thousands of sun-basking ants clustering on the nest's surface. The ants' body is warmed up by the sun and contribute to heat up the nest when the ants return. I det tidlige forår, når solen skinner på de røde skovmyrers (Formica polyctena) tue, kan du se tusindvis af solbadende myrer på tuens overflade. Myrernes krop opvarmes af solen og bidrager til opvarmning af myretuen, når myrerne vender tilbage.
