Hewas educated by the Cistercians, at the abbey of MonntMelleray, where he spent six years. Having completed hiscourse of philosophy, he sought admission into St. Pat-ricks Colleg-e, Carlow, in order to prepare for the holyorder of priesthood, as he aspired to serve God at Hisholy altar. After spending three years in that theologi-cal seminary, he resolved to devote himself to the Ameri-can mission, and, coming to this country, entered theProvincial Seminary at Troy, in 18G6.
