The State Reform School for Boys, the Masonic andOdd-Fellows orders, the Methodist Episcopal Church, theGerman Working-Mens Society, the Order of the Starsand Stripes, and perhaps other organizations have selectedlarge plats, which are being improved and adorned by themwith great good taste, and will eventually form attractivefeatures of this city of the dead. Y.,April 1, 1820, and was a lineal descendant of HumphreyTurner, who emigrated from Devonshire, England, andsettled in Plymouth, Mass., in 1628. His fether, Fran-cis S. Turner, and his mother, Deborah Morton, weremarried at Middlebury, Vt., in 1799. His grandfather,Jonathan Turner, married Bridget Arthur in the year1772. His great-grandfather, Paine Turner, was marriedat New London, Conn., Nov. 3, 1745, to Eleanor Humphrey Turner, of the seventh generation, nowowns and occupies the old farm in Scituate, Mass., wherehis ancestor, Humphrey Turner, lived and died, the farmnever having passed out of the family. Mr. Turners early educational advantages were quitelimited ; but, having a great love for books and an to obtain such an education as would fit him for theactive duties of business life, he improved
