What is the treatment ? Attend to the general health. Before the menopause, galvanism of the uterus and ovaries may be tried. The treatment is generally uusatisfactoiy. They are to be classed as benigngrowths. What is the etiology ? Little is known of the cause of fibroids. They rarely, if ever, beginbefore puberty, and never after the menopause. What is their structure ? Fibroids, or fibro-myomata of the uterus, are tumors composed ofboth fibrous and muscular tissue, either of which may predominateover the other. The fibrous tissue is usually in excess. Those composed chiefly of fibrous tissue are usually more or lessencapsulated, of slow growth, and chiefly of the subperitoneal variety. Those comjDOsed chiefly of muscular tissue are rare,
