Building and ornamental stones of Australia . SYDNEY SANDSTONE. (lANSDOWNE bridge, GEORGEiS RIVER, ) On the main Southern Road, i6 miles from Sydney. Built of sandstone obtained from the neighbourhood, and opened for traffic, 26th January, 1836. Built by Wm. Lennox, with the authority of Major T. L. Mitchell, and was the largest stone bridge in Australia up to that date and for long afterwards. The arch is appareully elliptical.
