The tribes of the Galindians and Sudovians, also called Jacwingians, lived in this area from 600 to 1230 a. D. until they were proselytized by the swords of the Teutonic Order. Until the 16. Century decendents of the Sudovians celebrated cultic rituals with animal sacrifices. Inscription on the so called Sudovian- or Jacwings-Alter: Pomnik Przyrody / Glaz Narzutowy / Dawny Oltarz / Ofiarny Jacwingow.
