Detail of sloping glass facade. ICE Krakow Congress Center, Kraków, Poland. Architect: Ingarden & Ewy, Ararta Isozaki, 2014.

The ICE Congress Centre is located on the south side of the Vistula embankments, conforming to the prestigious historical and contemporary context, beginning with Wawel Hill and including a panorama of the ancient Kraków, Kazimierz and Podgórze. The design of the site makes full use of the natural panoramic assets and results in a public space open to vistas towards Kraków's historical centre. The form of the building and its contemporary expression is defined by its organic shaped form with a large interior glazed foyer and a bending of the exterior facade towards the Vistula River in a slight wave, to adjust the scale of the building in the panorama of the embankments. The facades are composed of glass, ceramics, and aluminum. Ingarden and Ewy Architects were collaborating with Arata Isozaki and Associates / Tokyo.
