INSECTS WITH INCOMPLETE METAMORPHOSES. 1. HEMIPTERA, OR HALF-WINGED INSECTS. It includes, first, the true bugs—a name which should not be appliedto tbe insects of any other order ; second. Harvest-flies, Leaf-hoppers,Plant-lice ; and, third. Lice that are parasitic on mammals. The first includes many injurious insects, such as the Chinch bug,Squash-bug, Tarnished Plant-bug, Four-lined Leaf-bug. Among thecannibals are the Bed-bug and Soldier-bug, and some species useful toman. Some are amphibious, or aquatic ; among these are the Water-scorpion, the Giant Water-bug or the Electric Light-bug. 30 INJURIOUS INSECTS.
