The trawler 'Wakeful KY 261' entering Whitby Harbour in 1966

This image is a copy of a photographic slide taken in 1966. It features the trawler Wakeful KY 261 entering Whitby Harbour after a fishing trip in the North Sea. At that time there were more than 40 trawlers operating from Whitby. By 1990 that number had been reduced to 5. The Wakeful had a change of activity in 1995 after 35 years of fishing. The boat was originally delivered to George Storr in 1960 from James N. Miller & Sons' shipyard at St. Monance, Kirkcaldy.
