Head rounded; beak small and indistinct. Dorsal fin simalar in height and general apperaence to that of bottlenose dolphins. Distribution apparently restricted to upper quarter of Gulf of California, primarily in Colorado River Delta and shallow coastal COCHITO Phocoena sinus (T) Without a Dorsal Fin There is only one small cetacean in the area covered bv this guide which has no dorsal fin. Body to at least 3 m long. Body black or browinsh-black; belly has white hourglass pattern Body long and slender; tailstock very slender. Flukes small, with light zone near tips, top and bottom.
