Blue and white saucer, Ming dynasty, late Wanli period, China, 1600-1620. Small saucer painted in the interior with the figure of Fu Xing kicking a ball beneath a diaper patterned border at the rim. The exterior has a single blue line beneath the rim and the character 'fu' in pseudo seal script on the base in underglaze blue. Fu Xing, a Daoist deity, was a popular motif in the Wanli period.
