Efforts to improve the Heliotrope have been persistently made by experts all over the world for a number of years, and at last these efforts have been successful; realization has surpassed the most ardent expectation. One can scarcely recognize the old garden favorite in its new glorified form. The size of the foliage and its quality is doubled ; the habit of the plant is made compact and bushy instead of being scraggy and sprawling; the size of the flowers is magnified beyond belief, specimen heads measuring ten to ffieen. inches across; the color is better. {See cut.)
