Their apparent disproportion tothe size of the skull is truly extraordinary, and exemplifies the maximizationof dental development. The weight which they, by their great leverage, musthave added to the skull of the living animal, can hardly be estimated atless than two thousand pounds ! At either end of the G-allery, in the recesses formed by the windows, arofour handsome cases with glazed top and front, in which, on receding shelves,are exhibited a numerous series of smaller fossils arranged with a zoolosicalgrouping.
