Is very fine and can be cut tw o or three ti nes. Water Cress. Is a perennial and will grow in and alongside of streams and ponds. It has a very pleasant- pungent taste. CUCUMBER. Cucumbers succeed best in warm, moist, rich loamy ground. They should not be planted in the open air un- til there is a prospect of settled warm weather. Plant in the hills about four feet apart each way. The hills should be previously prepared by mixing thoroughly with the soil of each a shovelful of well rotted manure. When all danger from insects is past, thin out the plants, leaving three or four of the strongest to each hill.
