View N of the mortuary (dated 1906) at the Dinorwic Slate Quarry Hospital Visitor Centre within Padarn Country Park, Llanberis, Wales, UK. The building contains two large slate slabs raised on plinths for the laying out of bodies. The hospital contains beds, C19th medical equipment & an autopsy room. Built 1860, the hospital was maintained largely by contributions from the quarrymen themselves via a sick club. In 1979 it became a visitor centre run by Gwynedd Council. Padarn Country Park covers 800 acres containing walking trails through the Vivian Slate Quarries and oak woods of Coed Dinorwig: a Local Nature Reserve & SSSI. The Dinorwig Slate Quarry Mountain Landscape is part of The Slate Landscape of Northwest Wales which became the UK's 32nd UNESCO World Heritage Site on 28 July 2021.
