Sgt. Darik Stevens, a Newburgh, , native and mechanic for the 215th Brigade Support Battalion, 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, received the Purple Heart during a ceremony at Fort Hood, Texas, Jan. 22, for injuries he suffered during his deployment in 2011. The paperwork was lost during the redeployment and recently found on an old unit container. The command pushed to make sure Stevens was presented the award he earned. ( Army photo by Sgt.
