With the exception of width, the inbound freightroom is a duplicate of the outbound freight house. Thefloor, roof, daylight and artificial lighting, generalconstruction, fire protection, etc., are the hot-and-cold room in this building is of the sametype of construction, but is made larger to accommodatethe greater accumulation of freight, and is more used,. The hot-and-cold room in the inbound house inclosesa space 36 ft. x 44 ft., and is intended to provide enoughheat or enough cold to protect any perishable freightwhich may be received. This room is insulated againstthe outside temperature by cork walls covered with aspecial plaster inside and outside. It is equipped withmeat racks and other facilities for handling the morecommon perishables. The cement floor within the hot-and-cold room is equipped with drains so that it may bereadily washed out as needed. The inbound freight room is equipped with a chain-hoist monorail system opposite that in the outboundhouse, and two American Automatic 4000-lb. scales areinstalled for checking up on freight weights.
