The eggs are held. -TRAV I OR CAkR^lM; EGGS. in place by means of pins inserted in the bottom ofeach tray, and forming a circular supporting wallaround each egg, as shown at fig. 131, Some softmaterial is wound around each pin, forming an elasticpadding, by which the eggs are held firmly and trays, when filled, are placed in the package, oneabove the other, the bottom of one forming the coverof the one below it; the lid of the box holds alltightly in place. Small holes are bored through thebottom of each tray, the small end of each egg rests,and is thus held, in the position which is the best forlong and safe keeping. Each tray of eggs may beinspected at any time, by holding it to the light todetermine their soundness. For household use eachtray forms an independent receptacle for eggs, thepackage or box being provided only for the purposeof the shipper or dealer, American Agriculturist.
