Continuing on our way, we next come to Mount Riga, ninety-five miles from New York, and thehighest point on the line of the Harlem Railroad. The vil-lage has a population of about 500. It lies in a valley three-fourths of a mile wide, bounded on the east bv the mount-ain from which it derives its name, and on the west by arange of high hills running north about four miles. Theprincipal or most prominent hill, called Cave Hill, isdirectly opposite the village, and is covered by a handsomeforest growth. On a steep side of this hill is an extensivecave, which, to a depth of 400 feet contains apartments fifty. «0N THE HARLEM. 43 feet high.
