THE VERBENA Is the most useful and popular of our bedding plants, yet for want of proper cultivation, many fail to grow it to per- fection. Frequent change of soil is necessary. A fresh, sandv loam, enriched with well-rotted manure, or sods from' a pasture, thrown up with cow manure, and well- rotted before using, we have found the best. A simple plan, when it is not practicable to renew the entire bed is to dig holes about one foot square and deep, wherever a plant ^f^^^^ si red and fill up with fresh soil, as above named. ^V e have devoted much labor and care in the annual selection of our ^ erbena seed, and with over an acre bed to se ect fr-ce.
