A 1946 (post war) British advertisement for Tolly Ale advertised as being 'On Sale at all Theatre Bars'. A brewery owned by founded circa 1855 was acquired by Tollemache Brothers from Charles Cullingham & Co in 1888. and became Tollemache's Ipswich Brewery Ltd. On the 4th August 1920 Collier Brothers of Walthamstow were acquired and the company merged with Cobbold & Co. Ltd in 1957 becoming Tollemache & Cobbold Breweries Ltd
