At the present time, 7800 customers are sup-plied with electricity for light and power, more than 76per cent of the current sold being for power supply of current is taken at 66,000 volts, 25 cycles,from the Keokuk Water Power Development of the Mis-sissippi River Power Company over a transmission line144 miles in length, in addition to the current gener-ated at the power stations of the system. Provisions for Reliable Service The region about East St. Louis is peculiarly liableto severe electrical storms, which may cause damage. EAST ST. The telephone system is soarranged that the dispatcher may hold a telephone con-versation simultaneously with the operators at the sta-tions or with all persons involved in making any change,such as one or more linemen, together with the stationoperator.
