Basal cell adenoma, light micrograph

Light micrograph of a basal cell adenoma, a benign salivary gland tumour. The picture shows a positive P63 immunohistochemical stain on the tumour tissue. P63 protein is a transcription factor expressed in the nuclei of basal cells of the tumour. These nuclei are highlighted with a brown colour by the immunohistochemical staining technique. A background blue haematoxylin stain shows the cells (luminal cells and fibroblasts) lacking the P63 protein. Magnification: 200x when printed at 10 cm.
