Maxillary prognathism. Clinical view of the teeth of an orthodontic patient in a case of maxillary prognathism (also called mesiocclusion and negative overjet). This type of malocclusion (Type III) is where one jaw protrudes outwards further than the other jaw. Here the upper jaw is longer than the lower one. Orthodontics deals with misplaced or deformed teeth. Retractors have been used to open the mouth.
