Plant experiment. View of payload specialist Chiaki Naito-Mukai working with plant sprouts on board the Space Shuttle Discovery (STS-095). She represented the Japanese National Space Development Agency (NASDA) on the mission. She is carrying out experiments to see how plant metabolism responds to weightless conditions. The mission lasted from 29th October to 7th November 1998. She was joined on the mission by: Curtis L. Brown Jr., (mission commander), Steven W. Lindsey, Scott F. Parazynski, Steven K. Robinson, Pedro Duque a mission specialist representing the European Space Agency (ESA), and payload specialist senator John H Glenn, Jr.
