Children’s Peace Monument in Hiroshima, also known as the "Atomic Bomb Children Statue", is a monument for peace to commemorate Sadako Sasaki and the thousands of child victims of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima. Sadako Sasaki was a young girl who died of leukemia from radiation of the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima by the USA on 6 August 1945 which resulted in the deaths of over a hundred thousand civilians.
