Capecitabine chemotherapy drug tablets (500 mg). This oral chemotherapy drug is an antimetabolite fluoropyrimidine that is cytotoxic (it kills cells) by inhibiting cell division. It is used to treat breast cancer, gastric cancer and colorectal cancer. Patented in 1992, capecitabine is marketed as Xeloda by the Genentech pharmaceutical company. It is also available in generic form.
