For this purpose astate convention met in St. Louis, October 26, 1866, which resulted in theorganization of the Missouri State Sunday-School Association, with T. K. Hayward of Hannibal as president; ten vice-presidents and sevenmembers of the executive committee were selected from the differentdenominations of the state. The foundation thus laid proved abiding.
