Parkinson's disease treatment. Computer artwork of electrodes, which have been surgically implanted in the brain to treat the tremors caused by Parkinson's disease. This treatment is known as Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS). The electrodes provide continuous electrical stimulation, which blocks the signals that cause the tremors. The electrodes are controlled by a pulse generator unit fitted in the patient's chest (yellow, lower left).
