Heavenly bodies emit energy that travels through space and arrives on Earth in the form of radiation of variable intensity, of which visible light is just a tiny component. Our eyes and conventional telescopes cannot see all of this invisible radiation, including radio waves, microwaves, infrared and ultraviolet radiation, X rays, and gamma rays, each of which has a different wavelength and frequency.
