'Nerva', (30-98 AD), 1830. Nerva (30-98 AD) became Roman emperor when aged almost 66, from 96 to 98 AD after a lifetime of imperial service under Nero and the rulers of the Flavian dynasty. A revolt by the Praetorian Guard forced him to elect Trajan as his heir. From "Biographical Illustrations", by Alfred Howard. [Thomas Tegg, R. Griffin and Co., J. Cumming, London, Glasgow and Dublin, 1830]
