A pole mounted high voltage transformer wired up to the overhead line equipment that feeds trains on adjacent lines
Pole mounted step up transformer to raise the voltage for the overhead electric train power supply for running the trains at twenty five thousand volts. There are a very large number of these transformers dotted along the line to maintain a constant voltage throughout. The cylinder on top of the transformer keeps the oil cooled transformer cool and prevents any leaks allowing the transformer to dry out and therefore overheat and burn out.
