A German spike roller,16th/17th century. Wooden roller reinforced with iron straps,studded with several rows of quadrangular spikes(some of them missing). Turned baluster shaft(of later date?)with twisted iron mount stamped "P" on the obverse. The wood of the roller cracked,the shaft with slight worming. Height 121 cm.
