Family members, friends, and members of the New Jersey Army National Guard leadership say good-bye to 29 Soldiers with Company D, 1st battalion 171st General Support Aviation Battalion, at the Army Aviation Support Facility at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, , Jan. 3, 2019. The 171st is a medical evacuation company that flies UH-60L Black Hawk helicopters equipped with hoists and configured to carry stretchers in the cabin area. The 171st is deploying to Afghanistan to provide medical evacuation support to United States and Allied forces in support of Operation Freedom’s Sentinel.
