1947 black WOLSELEY 1548cc Petrol saloon; automobiles featured during the 58th year of the Manchester to Blackpool Touring Assembly for Veteran, Vintage, Classic and Cherished cars.


Wolseley Motors was founded in 1901. Bought out by Morris Motors in 1927. Morris Motors merged with the Austin Motor Company in 1952 to form BMC (British Motor Corporation), they sold Morris, Austin, Wolseley, Riley and MG cars. The new Series III Wolseley was introduced after the War. The noticeable difference for the Series III is the bonnet louvres now consisting of many small vertical louvres enclosed by three long horizontal strips rather than the four long horizontal louvres of the Series II. Available was three 4 door saloons; The 12/48; 44hp 1548cc 4 cyl, The 14/60; 60hp 1818cc 6 cyl And the 18/85 85hp 2322cc 6 cyl. The 14/60 was produced from 1938-48 and only offered as a 4 door Saloon, a small number of ‘Redfern’ tourers were also produced.
