Woman in the costume of Lisieux, a town in Calvados. She wears a bonnet with a small base and surprisingly large "papillon" (butterfly) top. Hand-colored fashion plate illustration by Lante engraved by Gatine from Louis-Marie Lante's "Costumes des femmes du Pays de Caux," 1827/1885. With their tall Alsation lace hats, the women of Caux and Normandy were famous for the elegance and style.
