Part of the Leeuwarden series, previously known as the Hondelaarsdijk series, is a series of portraits of military officials from the Eighty Years' War as well as members of the House of Orange-Nassau, first mentioned in 1633 in the Stadhouderlijk Hof (Stadholder's Court), Leeuwarden. Date circa 1609-1633; oil on panel. Olivier van den Tympel ( 1540 - Vlijmen , 1603 ) was a colonel in the army of William of Orange and during the Eighty Years' War military governor in Brussels during the so-called Calvinist republic , after the triumphal entry of the prince on September 23, 1577
