London, UK, 12th May, 2013. A skateboarder rides over the crest of 50's concrete waves at the Southbank centre, next to the River Thames. The unused space has a long association with skaters since the sport became popular in the 1970's. Now, the Southbank authorities want to commercially develop the undercroft to fund a refurbishment of the Haywood Gallery, Queen Elizabeth Hall and Purcell Room. More than 30,000 signatures have been garnered on a online petition against the proposed development.
