Ear Spring, Yellowstone, 2016

Colorful bacterial mats at Ear Spring, Yellowstone National Park, in April, 2016. In September 2018, Ear Spring erupted, killing the bacterial mats. It also ejected the trash that tourists had thrown into it over the years, including pull-top cans and an old pacifier. It was Ear Spring’s largest geyser eruption since the 1950’s.
