Internet symbol on a chip. Computer artwork of the symbol \@\" (at) superimposed on the microcircuits of a silicon chip, to represent the internet and electronic mail (e-mail). The chip microcircuits are here seen magnified under a light microscope. The symbol \"@\" is used in the address of electronic mail users. E-mail is a method whereby computer users can communicate with each other over the internet. The internet is an inter- national network of computers, including the World Wide Web (WWW), which forms a global information superhighway. Each e-mail user has an address from which information can be accessed, and to which data (text or images) can be sent."
