IMPLANTABLE INSULINE POMPE

Functional insulinotherapy. 65-year-old man, diabetic patient of type 1, carrier of an implanted pump, order the appropriate dosis of insulin to the patient communicator just before eating his meal. He has previously done a glycemia test and evaluated the quantity of glucides of his meal. He holds the communicator at the level of the position of his implanted pump. Functional insulinotherapy enables a diabetic patient to adapt his treatment of insulin to his life style and to different situations of the daily life (physical activity, stress, disease, exceptional meal, etc). To putting in pratice this therapy we must rely on a perfect evaluation of the glucides absorbed ; therefore, simple formulas elaborated by diabetologists enable the patient to calculate precisely the dosis of insulin that will be necessary for the meals depending on the food and activities. This therapy enables a wider autonomy of the patient who will become responsible to manage the disease.
