After the snow storm, White Pocket, Vermillion Cliffs National Monument, Arizona, USA

White Pocket is an area of fantastic rock formations made by the erosion of white and red limestone. It is located in the far north of Arizona and is isolated and difficult to access. Since access is difficult, it is little visited and quite unspoiled. The swirls and striations of the rocks, along with some tessellated gray cap rock formations, speak of the dramatic geologic upheavals that took place in the distant past. On the day of my visit there a spring snow storm made White Pocket live up to its name.
