FETUS, ILLUSTRATION

Beyond the 8th week of pregnancy the embryo becomes a fetus. Ultrasonography which is particularly effective for studying fluid-filled organs is used to study the fetus in utero. The human fetus develops in the womb surrounded by a membranous pouch containing amniotic fluid, that develops within one week of conception. This is a image of the fetus at nine months pregnancy. The mother’s bladder and the anterior part of the uterus and vagina have been removed to facilitate understanding. N°1 abdominal walls, 2. Orifice of the vagina, 3. Labia minor, 4.
