His early educa-tion was obtained in the district school of his nativeplace. In 1830 he removed to Michigan, stoppedfirst at .n Arbor, and the following year settled atSchoolcraft, where he resided nearly seventy many years he followed mercantile pursuits, butspent his declining days upon a farm. He becameintimately connected with the growth and develop-ment of his adopted State. In 1S37 he was electeda member of the Board of County Commissioners;in 1841 he was a member of the State House of. KBENKZER LAKIN BROWX Representatives ; and in 1S55, and again in 1879, amember of the State Senate. He was elected Re-versity as Treasurer from 1864 to 1872. B. 1880), nowProfessor of the English Language and Literature inthe University of Cincinnati ; and Addison Make-piece (A. B. 1883), now Secretary of the MichiganAgricultural College. He died at Schoolcraft, April12, 1899. LUKE H. PARSONS was born at Hoosick,New York, February 12, 1812. He studied law andwas admitted to the Bar at Ann Arbor, Michigan, in1S35. He removed to Corunna in 1S39, andbecame a law partner of his brother, Andrew Parsons,afterwards Regent and Governor. In 1857 he wasele
